Vane Style Show Highlights

We are always excited when it's Fashion week because we get to see the vision of so many talented African designers come to light again in a whole new dimension. The theme for this year was 'Africa: Shaping Fashion's Future' and the event included the Fashion Business Series, Fashion Installation, the Runway shows and the #HeinekenLFDW After Party.

From the beautiful hems and simple cut trousers from Bridget Awosika to the body suit and fish net combination from Gert-Johan Coetzee, the vintage Adire with modern denim twist combination from Maki OH, the sexy modern twist from Clan and the interesting prints and patterns from Lisa Folawiyo.

But which did the Vane Style Team enjoy most? Here are highlights from the event.

DAY 1

EKI ORLEANS

Have you ever wondered how to pull of strong colors, or thought , hmmm! that looks great on her, but wouldn't look great on me ? If so i understand because several clients have said the same thing to me when i have tried to encourage them to brighten up their wardrobe with combining colors to make magic statement looks.

It really isn't that hard to do so i have 3 ways you can cultivate a positive look for your work wear.

One of the best advices you will be given regarding color is that yellow (depending on the shade ) is a very easy complimentary hue for every skin shade... yup!!! you heard me right so don't be scared anymore, just try it and pair it with any shade of orange ( mari-gold, burnt orange etc ) to help tone it down or you can wear all of the same shade ( only if you dare )





You can also layer a wardrobe staple over it to achieve a relaxed vibe, especially for days when you just wanna be stylish but those heels won't cut it because you have errands to run. Here i paired it with denim.




Accessorize with black( your structured handbag and black closed toe shoes ) as an expected wearable add on that convey's a stylishly prepared look .

I love skirts, mostly because they cover me up when I've had a really heavy eating week ( which is almost all the time, lol ) and then they offer me great structural support when its time to slay. Now I know a lot of times finding a great bae skirt that offers comfort( not too tight ) structure ( shows off the shape ) and provides a perfect fit (length ) is not always easy to find in Lagos. Earlier this week I went about to a few designer stores and found these really cool skirts ( one for each of my style moods ) that will be perfect for you.
