This Is How You Can Seamlessly Pair Your Solids

By vane-style - July 09, 2019

Prints and florals…yes, we can’t get enough of them too, but solid colours are priceless! Outfits are referred to as solids when the whole garment(s) is of a single colour or a mix of variations. This style format is eccentric as it is essential to creating ensembles that are well thought out.  With pairing solids, you don’t have to go out on a spending spree to achieving the look as you can use classic pieces from your wardrobe. Here are the basic ways you can style them!

Monotone Colour Block

These are separates of one colour. To really own ensembles in this category, pick a colour and wear every piece of your outfit in different tones of the same colour. If you are a sucker for layering, here’s where you shine. You can also colour co-ordinate the tones in tops and bottoms, not just dresses alone. Don’t worry so much because they can be formal-friendly and playful as well.

Monochrome Pairings

These are outfits with an overall tonal look and the method of achieving them is really easy.  All you have to do is wear different parts of your outfits in a uniformed colour. The ensembles in this category always give a clean look and makes a beautiful canvas for accessories. For beginners, it is best to try out basic colours first.

Analogous Colours

So remember the colour wheel from elementary art class? Well, you are about to need them again. The colours on the wheel are basically all the shades of the rainbow lined up in a wheel. They usually come in schemes and the pairing different hues would really make your pairing stand out and allow for fluidity. Colours like blue and purple really work well.

Complementary Colours

These are hues that are opposite each other on the colour wheel. Examples are red and green, blue and red, purple and yellow. There isn’t any trick in wearing complementary colours, so long as you are familiar with the chart and you have garments in the three primary colours (blue, red and yellow) and also neutrals such as white, black. Be daring and pair a blue top with a red skirt and seal your look with faded metallic accessories. If you weren’t in the know, metallics also fall under neutrals. So instead of wearing only traditional neutrals and pastels, match your pop of colour with gold or silver bottoms.

Now we’ve got you covered on solids, it should be a lot easier getting dressed statement-making tones!
