The Closet Detox Guide To Revamp Your Wardrobe

By vane-style - April 09, 2019

Sometimes, picking out an outfit from your wardrobe can feel like a chore and most times, we just end up wearing the same thing over and over and over. We can all agree on this, right? Yeah.
Matching pieces together can actually be a walk in the park. It doesn’t have to be stressful.
A good cleansing is all it takes!!
Here are practical tips you can follow to revamp your wardrobe;

Take everything out

Empty your wardrobe. Remove everything you can find in there; ranging from the accessories, shirts, the whole thing. This would definitely give you a proper idea of how much stuff you have to work with and it's also very therapeutic if we're being honest.

Make piles

This step requires a bit of a "fashion soul-searching" exercise. Sort out the items in piles of:

a. Keeps

These are the pieces that you actually need like your everyday essentials. If they need to be amended you can resuscitate them by doing a bit DIY here and there or going to the tailor to fix the buttons, mend slits and zips or repairing chipped heels of shoes.

b. Maybe

You're not sure of these ones maybe because you just followed the trend or gave into impulse spending. It's better to keep this pile as small as possible so deciding a yes or a no doesn't break your heart.

c. Stuff I haven't worn in 3 years

This is the pile that should be discarded. Just dash it out, sell, or recycle. They probably still have tags on them so, they are in perfect condition.

Finally, give it a try before you put it back in your wardrobe. Put on a show for one of your friends whose fashion opinions you live by so they can help you decide if it should go back in or be tossed out.

New hangers

Investing in quality new hangers can immediately change the whole look of your wardrobe from bleh to high fashion! we swear by this trick, it always works. We recommend the black suede ones or the wooden effect ones or simple plain white metallic hangers.

Section by Colour

Sort your wardrobe out by colors. Divide the items into different categories; bold hues, pastels, neutrals, and prints. This gives you a great sense of coordination and you're able to effortlessly plan out your fits for the week.

Section by style

Divide them into shirts, jackets, shorts, skirts, e.t.c. for easy access so you don't have to spend the whole day trying to figure out what and how to wear them.
