It is our CEO and lead stylist on the latest edition of This day style magazine which was released on Sunday 28th October, 2018. Following her 40th birthday celebration, she graces the cover of This day style magazine to mark her milestone.
It has been eight years serving the Nigerian fashion industry and Veronica odeka shares honest insight on her journey so far.
Discussing the role stylists play in the fashion industry, she stated that stylists are one of the most influential bridging gaps in fashion, who based on their expertise of creativity can put an outfit on a client that instantly gains her attention worldwide and offers gratifying rewards in sales for the designer.
A word from her to upcoming stylists is to learn as much as possible, network, create niche personally and professionally.
In addition, she discusses Vane polish telling us about her contact with nail polish and her love for the application of it as a little child. Her love for it and the quest for long lasting, quality, quick-dry nail polishes in colours that refreshes her skin tone when worn birthed her premium nail polish brand called Vane polish.
In her interview, she also talked about her personal style, work ethic, balancing work, motherhood and being a wife successfully. Her personal style is relaxed, feminine and classic.
One career highlight for Veronica Odeka is attaining the responsibility of head stylist for Arise Fashion Week earlier this year. One strategy we will be taking from this interview is planning. Planning for everything' and even planning to do nothing.
There is a word for every creative mind here.

It is the Heineken Lagos Fashion Week 2018 and I am excited, I hope you are. Outfits all planned, everything set. Can you guess who I will be wearing?
Last year, there were a lot of versatile and fabulous pieces on the runway, we can't wait to see all of the creativity of our African designers.
This years' fashion week is from the 24th - 27th of October 2018 and the theme is Africa: Shaping fashions' future.
As Africans, we are very expressive fashion- wise and have mastered the art of telling our stories using vibrant colours, prints and patterns and everything shiny. Noting that, these are a few features we expect to see on the runway this year.
1. Sequin and Metallics
2. Prints
3. Asooke
4. Adire
The venue for this years' fashion week is Lagos Fashion Week Tents, Prince Alaba Oniru way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Here is the schedule for the designers showing.
See you at the tents! 😊
Adire is fully back in fashion and we are loving all the interesting designs on the racks of our favourite designers. Adire has evolved from being just a traditional fabric to being a staple fabric in every designer's workshop.
We at the Vane style HQ are in love with Adire for its abstract prints and splash of colours. A fashion piece in Adire print is that piece you should have in your wardrobe.
This evolving trend is here to stay and you can tell a lot of people are catching the buzz including our fave celebrities and influencers.
Here is a list of designers in no particular order where you can get an Adire piece for yourself.
4. 14zeoseven
Be sure to find more beautiful Adire pieces at the upcoming Heneiken Lagos Fashion and Design runway.

It is no news that pleated skirts are one of our style faves at the Vane style HQ. This fashion item is trendy and flatters all body types.
Here are Four ways to style a pleated skirt.
With a crisp white shirt which is a wardrobe staple.
With a top in a contrasting hue. Don't be afraid to play with accessories if the top is plain.
With a monochrome top; a monochrome piece goes with virtually all hues.
With a top in the same hue; might be a darker or a lighter shade.
Monochrome as the word implies simply means one colour. Monochrome looks are easy, fun and stylish. This could be your go-to look whenever you feel stuck.
Here are some of our tips for a perfect monochrome look.
1. COLOUR.
Always pick a colour that compliments your skin tone. Look through your closet and pull out all the items(trouser, skirt, top, dress, jacket) in the colour that you have picked then start pairing.
2. TEXTURE.
Mix textures; it is a great way to add fun and interest to your monochrome look. You don't want to look boring. Texture will give visual pleasure.
3.Balance.
This is important for every look, not just monochrome. You don't want the outfit to overwhelm you. To keep things safe, play with proportions. If you are wearing a bulky top, wear a more fitted bottom.
4. Highlight the good.
It is important to take note of your best features and use the different shades/tint of the colour chosen to either hide or highlight your features. For example if you have big hips and want to hide it, you would want to use a wear a darker shade of your chosen colour at the bottom.

I know you just thought about Christina Milan after reading this title. Lol! No, it is not the lyrics to her song, it is about shoes that give the ease of an all-day wear.
After a long day of hustle and bustle especially in a city as busy as Lagos, it is normal to want to wind down at a pub. While doing this, there is the desire to feel and look relaxed and fun.
That being said, we can not underestimate the importance of a pair of shoes that gives you comfort yet formal, fun and easy.

Covered Block heel shoes, Kitten heel shoes, and slingback shoes are the go-to shoes to give you an all-day wear and can be fun, easy and formal.
To keep things interesting opt for the aforementioned style of shoes with an embellishment or accessory. e.g. something with pearl, stones, something floral or it could be a pair of slingback or block heel shoes in a bright hue or bold print.
